Vietnam's emerging AI in Drug Discovery market is forecast for rapid expansion as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into pharmaceutical and biotechnology research.
According to IMARC, the market was worth approximately US$9.6 million in 2025 and is forecast to reach US$94.4 million by 2034, representing annual growth of 28.01%.
AI is being applied across the drug-discovery pathway, including target identification, molecule screening, drug optimisation and repurposing, de novo drug design and preclinical development. Machine learning, deep learning and natural-language processing can help researchers analyse increasingly complex biological and chemical datasets and identify promising drug candidates more efficiently.
Vietnam's opportunity is supported by a growing life-sciences ecosystem. The country's biotechnology market reached US$3.41 billion in 2025 and is forecast to approach US$8.9 billion by 2034, while its pharmaceutical market is expected to grow from approximately US$8.0 billion to US$14.65 billion over the same period.
The trend reflects a much wider Asian transformation. The Asia-Pacific AI in Drug Discovery market reached US$439.8 million in 2025 and is forecast to exceed US$3 billion by 2033, growing at 27.2% annually.
International technology leaders include Insilico Medicine, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, Isomorphic Labs, Schrödinger, Atomwise, insitro and Aitia, alongside pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies increasingly integrating AI into their own R&D programmes.
For Vietnam, the opportunity extends across AI drug-discovery platforms, computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, target discovery, virtual screening, generative chemistry and predictive modelling.
Although still an emerging market, the forecast expansion from US$9.6 million to more than US$94 million illustrates how quickly AI could become part of Vietnam's pharmaceutical R&D ecosystem as the country builds greater biotechnology and drug-development capabilities.
